FAQs

  • How does the NRG Home Filters Made Easy® program work?

This program, offered in conjunction with Filters Now, LLC, is a convenient service that delivers replacement air filters for heating and cooling systems — right to your door. You can subscribe to an ongoing filter delivery service, order filters in bulk or make a one-time purchase. If you subscribe to receive recurring orders, filters will be delivered at the frequency you specify until you pause or cancel your subscription, or if your subscription is terminated by Filters Now, LLC. Sign up today, and enjoy having one less thing to remember tomorrow.

  • How will I be billed?

Your credit card account will be charged for your one-time order or for the first subscription shipment at the time the order is placed. If you setup a recurring subscription, your credit card account will be automatically charged each time a scheduled reoccurring shipment is processed at the interval you selected. Your credit card will be billed automatically on an ongoing basis for each recurring delivery of filters unless you pause or cancel your subscription or if your subscription is terminated.

  • What does shipping cost?

Each order ships at the low rate of $7.99 regardless of how many filters are shipped in the order.

  • How do I modify or pause my subscription or order?

You may request a change to an order at any time before your order has been processed. You can modify your delivery settings or pause your subscription, at any time online or by phone during Filters Now’s normal hours of operation (Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM, Central Standard Time.). All change requests received after an order or reoccurring shipment has been processed must be handled through the procedures for returns described below.

  • How do I return a filter?

Non-custom and unused filters can be returned within 30 days for a refund of the cost of the filter, less a restocking fee. When returning filters for a refund, cost of shipment must be paid by the customer. Original shipping charges will not be refunded. To be eligible for a refund or replacement, you must follow the Return Policy in the Subscription and Order Terms and Conditions. Login or feel free to email [email protected] or call 1-855-523-4340 with any questions.

  • What if I'm not in my home for several weeks?

The program has a unique “pause” feature. You can place your subscription on “pause” for 30, 60 (recommended), 90 or 120 days by updating your online account. Once your account is active again, your subscription will resume at the original frequency. Login or call 1-855-523-4340 to pause your program until you return home.

  • Where is my air filter located?

For most systems, the HVAC filter is located in one of three locations. If the return unit (blower) is located in a closet area, often the filter slides into a slot on the bottom of the cooling and heating system. The second location is in a return located on a wall – there is a removable grill and the filter sits behind it. The final common location for filters is in a return grill in the ceiling. Don’t forget that if you have two inside cooling and heating units, you likely need to replace two filters at the same time.

  • How should I place my order if I have more than one cooling and heating system?

If each system requires a different filter size and type, we make it convenient to select a different filter type for each HVAC unit. Simply select the number of filters you need and the filter type and size for each. All filters will arrive together in the same shipping box on the same delivery frequency you choose – one-time order or until you pause or cancel your subscription.

  • How often should I change my HVAC filters?

According to Energy Star, it is recommended that you replace your filter every 3 months, at a minimum. This will help prevent harmful back pressure on your cooling and heating system. Even the highest-quality filter can't do its job right if it's clogged with a thick layer of particles. Changing filters more frequently can also help to reduce your HVAC energy consumption by 5 to 15 percent.

  • What is the MERV rating?

The Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV), which was developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioner Engineers, measures how efficient a filter is at trapping airborne particles on a scale of one to 16. Filters with higher MERV ratings do a great job of trapping airborne particles, but may restrict airflow and make your HVAC unit work harder (reducing potential energy savings) if the MERV rating is too high. Filters Now recommends a minimum MERV of 8 and a maximum MERV of 11 to best balance your filtering needs with your system’s airflow needs.
